The Knitwear Trends for Autumn/Winter 2019

Autumn is here and as we wave goodbye to the sun you may have noticed that the high street is throwing out the floral and bringing in the autumnal knitwear, jackets and boots that will have you stepping into the next season in style. This autumn expect a mix of the typical grunge, leather and lace looks whilst minimalist tailored cuts will give your autumn wardrobe a sophisticated look, great for the office AND the wine bar. A huge part of all Autumn/Winter looks is the knitwear. There is nothing better than putting on that trusted jumper to add a finishing layer to your look that is both stylish and cosy. We want to show you the knitwear that is hogging the spotlight on runways this year and which will inspire you to live your best life.

Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham is known for her creation of classic yet comfortable clothes that can be taken straight off the runway and into your wardrobe. For 19/20, Beckham uses a palette of nudes whilst bold patterns, deep reds and auburn truly ooze that autumnal feeling. This year expect chunky turtle necks and matching knitted trousers. Tailored cut jumpers and knitted cardigans are also a Beckham classic and are shown to sit easily over trousers or a swishing skirt.

Eighties chic comes to mind when describing JW Anderson’s 2019 Autumn/Winter ready to wear collection. Think dynamic and feminine with collared capes, chunky belts and bellowing sleeves that will make your knitwear the main attraction of any outfit. The colour tones bring cold clay neutrals with rich and warming amber and golds, whilst patterned chunky knit jumpers add an extra dose of energy.

Preen AW19

The Preen AW 19 Ready to Wear collection got us excited to layer up this year. Preen introduced us to some harmonious clashes as check and diamond patterns were teamed with softer patterns of floral and lace. The collection saw high necked cropped knitted cardigans adore ruffled skirts and highlighted how the grandad jumper will reign supreme for AW 19.

Alexa Chung’s AW 19 was full of fun as always. The collection included an eighties-like shoulder-padded grandad jumper and patchwork knitwear that is so cute it can never truly be out of fashion. Long, thin knitted scarfs were a striking accessory whilst tartan and diamond-patterned jumpers were also a prominent part of the collection. Alongside bold patterns and padded shoulders is also an element of sophistication as the collection highlighted the beauty of a knitted dress that teams perfectly with a long coat this season.
